Looser Bronze 65

Looser Bronze 65 (LB 65) – CuSn12-C-GS/GC/GZ DIN EN 1982

Looser Bronze 65 is a hard and tough material with high wear resistance and good antifriction properties. It is insensitive to shock and is seawater-resistant, corrosion-resistant and cavitation-resistant.

Example uses

Continuous casting and centrifugal casting:

  • Highly loaded, high-speed worm gear rims for general gear manufacture. Particularly well-suited to lift and escalator drives owing to high safety. Spindle nuts moved under load, highly loaded plain bearings in machine tools.
  • Highly loaded sliding plates and wear plates, thrust washers and piston-pin bushings, pistons and pump bodies for oil and water hydraulics, highly loaded coupling blocks. Sliding speeds up to v = 20 m/s are permitted with hydrodynamic lubrication.
  • Sliding speeds up to v = 20 m/s are permitted with hydrodynamic lubrication.

Mould casting:

  • Particularly suitable for structural parts which must simultaneously withstand surface pressures and shocks and are subject to frictional wear, e.g. highly loaded coupling, articulated or slide blocks and spindle nuts moved under load, worm gears subject to low and moderate load.

The sample bar is removed from the casting in the case of centrifugal castings and continuous castings. The sample position – e.g. lengthwise or crosswise sample – must be agreed between orderer and manufacturer: the values specified in the table apply only to wall thicknesses up to 50 mm for the blank casting. In the case of wall thicknesses over 50 mm, with the wall thickness of the blank casting being the decisive factor, it must be anticipated that the strength and hardness values are lower. This applies in particular to the yield point.
It must not be expected that the strength and hardness values are uniformly high at all points of the casting. In general, the values in the outer layers will be higher than in the core zone.

Machinability

Can be machined satisfactorily by metal cutting, easily welded, easily soldered and conditionally suitable for brazing.

Sliding partners

Surface-hardened shafts are advisable owing to the high hardness and wear resistance (min. HRC 56–58). They should be neatly ground and they should have an ultra-finely-ground finish if subject to very high loads. Cast iron with spheroidal graphite is also a suitable shaft material. Edge pressure must be avoided.
